BMW to unleash “April fool” M3 GT3 Touring at 2026 Nurburgring 24H!

What initially started as an April Fools' Day joke is becoming reality! BMW has unveiled a modified version of the BMW M3 Touring that will compete in the May edition of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

In April 2025, BMW pranked fans by sharing rendered images of a supposedly developed BMW M3 Touring. The joke became so popular that it generated 1.6 million views across social media platforms—far more than usual.

BMW then decided to turn the joke into reality, and the car will make its racing debut this weekend at NLS2.

The M3 Touring is based on the BMW M4 GT3 Evo. The most significant change can be seen in the rear section, with the entire M3 Touring being 200 millimeters longer.

Behind the wheel of the M3 Touring, entered by Schubert Motorsport, will be four BMW factory drivers: Jens Klingmann, Ugo de Wilde, Connor De Phillippi, and Neil Verhagen. The car will compete in the SPX category and therefore will not fight for the overall victory.

Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, said:
“A project like the BMW M3 Touring 24H has never existed before at BMW M Motorsport. Many thanks to everyone who put their heart and soul into this unique car and brought it to life. I’m thrilled—and at the same time confident that our fans, who are nowhere closer to us than at our second home, the Nürburgring, will be just as excited. I promise all fans a great show and I’m looking forward to a race full of superlatives.”
