Verstappen won the chaotic Qatar GP

Right after the first corner, Max took the lead, Russell dropped from pole position to third place and it didn't take long for the safety car to come out due to the collision between Ocon, Colapinto and Hulkenberg. After the restart of the race, Max held on to first position, while Piasti got ahead of Leclerc. On lap 30, Albon's mirror fell off and lay in the middle of the track, however, the commissaires ignored it and only brought out the safety car after Bottas had passed him and debris remained on the track, which caused Sainz and Lewis a puncture. The drivers in the first positions took advantage of this and went into the pits. The restart was on lap 40 and Norris tried to attack Max, but he defended his position, but it didn't take long for another safety car to come out after Hulkenberg spun and got stuck in the gravel and Perez had a technical problem and had to retire. Meanwhile, Norris received a 10s stop and go penalty for not slowing down under yellow flags, Lewis received another penalty for speeding in the pits and had to go through the pits.

Lando gradually got to tenth and even set the fastest lap of the race. Max won, Leclerc second and Piastre third. P4 Russell, great result for Gasly in P5, Sainz P6, Alonso P7, Zhou got Sauber's first points of the year in P8, P9 Magnussen and P10 Norris.

The constructors' championship will be decided next week in Abu Dhabi, while the difference between Ferrari and McLaren is 21 points.

Immediately after the race it was also announced that Esteban Ocon will be replaced by Jack Doohan next week.
