The race itself was heavily influenced by rain, which kept the cars behind the safety car for two hours. Later, race control attempted to replace the safety car, likely due to low fuel. However, part of the field followed the original car into the pits, while the rest lined up behind the “new” one. This created chaos on track, prompting race control to wave the red flag in order to restore the correct order, while also waiting for the rain to ease.
After the restart, it turned into a true showcase of motorsport. Ferrari may have locked out qualifying, but the race best suited Porsche, whose 963 LMDh scored its first win of the season. Behind the wheel of the victorious #6 car were the familiar trio of Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell. Behind them in second came the red Ferrari #50 from Maranello, shared by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen. The final podium spot was taken by the #94 Peugeot with drivers Loïc Duval, Malthe Jakobsen, and Stoffel Vandoorne — only the third podium for Peugeot since its entry into the WEC.

In the LMGT3 category, the battle was as close as ever, but the crew of the #95 McLaren — Darren Leung, Sean Gelael, and Marino Sato — came out on top. Second place went to the #46 BMW of Team WRT, driven by Ahmad Al Harthy, Valentino Rossi, and Kelvin van der Linde. Third place belonged to the #54 Ferrari with Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci, and Davide Rigon behind the wheel.
The WEC returns next week at Japan’s Fuji Speedway for the penultimate round of the season before the grand finale in Bahrain.
