Franco Colapinto made his debut last year as a replacement for Logan Sargeant and immediately impressed many people with his performances. He was briefly linked with Red Bull itself, but that fell through and Franco is without a race seat for this season, and will have to settle for only the reserve and test driver seat, he will also work on the simulator at the factory in Estone.

However, we could potentially see Franco racing this year. There is information circulating that Jack Doohan has a clause in his contract that Alpine can fire him after the first few races if he doesn't perform well, in which case Alpine could hire Franco.
The team also announced today that Ryo Hirakawa will become a reserve driver and will also take part in the first practice in Japan.
