The season was originally set to finish in Bahrain, as we are used to from previous years. However, due to tensions in the Middle East, the WEC has decided to hold the season finale in Europe, specifically at Monza, where the World Endurance Championship last raced in 2023.

The manufacturers' title has already been decided in Barcelona, where the most recent race was held, as Toyota Racing secured a 1-2 finish. However, the drivers' title is still up for grabs.

Currently the #8 Toyota crew of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa is leading the championship, holding a 17-point advantage over the #7 Toyota line-up of Mike Conway, Nyck de Vries and Kamui Kobayashi.

The race lasts six hours which means that the points system is the same as the one used in Formula 1, although there is one difference: in the WEC, the pole-sitter receives an extra point, which is not the case in F1.

With the #8 crew holding a 17-point advantage over its sister car, the title is guaranteed as long as they finish inside the top five. The #7 Toyota needs to finish at least second to have any chance of winning the title.

The six-hour race will start on Sunday at 11:00 local time.
