Revie Lake's first British GT season came to an end at Brands Hatch with a two-hour race from which he came away with a podium.
Many European series are coming to an end, and one of those is British GT. After six race weekends, the season has come to an end at one of the most legendary British circuits — Brands Hatch, where the whole paddock arrived after the last race at Donington Park, where Revie and his teammate Blake Angliss secured their first win. "Brands Hatch was different. We had no Friday testing, and I knew I wasn’t going to be the fastest. My goal was to learn the track and be on pace for the race. Considering I had only driven Brands Hatch once before, which was last year, it wasn’t the end of the world," said Revie.
In the qualifying session, they were fighting for pole position. However, they ended up second, securing a place on the front row. Blake Angliss, Revie's teammate, was opening the race, as he was behind the wheel of their McLaren Artura GT4 for the first stint. He managed to hold his position through the busy first laps.
Blake was heading into the pit stop with a 30-second advantage over P3, which was well needed, as they had a 45-second pit stop penalty earned from their Donington win. Blake then handed over the driving duties to Revie Lake, who fought his way up to second position. Unfortunately, they were given a drive-through penalty for a pit stop infringement.
After serving the penalty, Revie didn't give up and, despite the penalty, reached the finish line in third place in the Silver class and P5 overall. "I mean, I am happy with the result, as I had to work harder for it. The extra time in the pit stop was not the challenge; the penalty for my visor being up was. Personally, I don’t agree with it, but that’s racing and the rules are the rules… so I got on with it and made my statement once again on track, overtaking big names and showing everyone else that I am the next big driver coming to the top," Revie stated. It's worth adding that the 16-year-old British driver also set the fastest lap of the race, which further highlighted his pace.
The whole season has been like a rollercoaster for the #84 crew, as many disappointing and unfortunate moments crossed their path throughout the year. However, they were still able to show their true and unquestionable pace. "The whole season has been a learning experience, as I am still very new, so taking a win and a pole, topping many sessions and being at the top of the B-Pillar too is mega. But I think from the start of the season, I can easily see how much I have improved just from calming down, not overthinking and being patient, as it’s endurance racing. And the pace has naturally come to me," Revie added.
This season proved that we have to remember the name Revie Lake, as he is definitely a rising star of GT racing, which he showed on track.
