The race weekend in Miami is one of the sprint events, which means there was only one practice session on Friday, followed immediately by qualifying for the sprint race. In that session, 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli impressed by securing pole position. However, he had a poor start in the sprint itself, allowing both McLarens to move ahead and eventually win the sprint. Surprisingly, Lewis Hamilton also joined them on the podium.

In qualifying for the race, newly crowned father Max Verstappen took pole position, with Lando Norris in second and Kimi Antonelli in third. There were warnings of heavy rain for the race, but the storms bypassed the circuit, and the race was held in dry conditions. It was interrupted several times by the Virtual Safety Car.

The first 20 laps were made entertaining by Max Verstappen, who gradually dropped from the lead and showcased impressive defensive driving against both McLarens. Eventually, they managed to overtake him, as did George Russell, who once again finished on the podium. The race was won by Oscar Piastri, with Lando Norris in second place. Max Verstappen finished fourth.

Alex Albon had an excellent performance, finishing fifth, followed by sprint qualifying winner Kimi Antonelli in sixth. The Ferrari drivers, who struggled throughout the race, came in seventh and eighth. They were also quite vocal on the radio, especially when Lewis (Hamilton) tried to swap positions with his teammate. The top ten was rounded out by Carlos Sainz in ninth and Yuki Tsunoda in tenth.
