Although McLaren already competes in the WEC, but only in the LMGT3 category, this should change from 2027. The British manufacturer has announced its return to the higher WEC-hypercar category and will attempt to win the overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1955.
Although details are not known, it is expected that the car will be in the LMDh category, and it is believed that McLaren has formed a partnership with Italian manufacturer Dallara, which also collaborated on the development of the Cadillac V-Series.R and the BMW M Hybrid V8. This will make McLaren the 11th brand, joining Genesis and Ford, the current 8 brands.
